Morogoro Municipal Council is the regional headquarters. It is one of the oldest cities in the history of Tanzania [called Tanganyika] in the 18th century. of Indian.
The residents of Morogoro Municipal Council are a mix of different ethnic groups. The tribe that owns this Council is the Luguru. Morogoro rose to the status of a city in 1962. The pace of expansion of the City Council increased gradually and by 1/7/1988 it rose to status and became a Municipality. Given the various geographical, economic and environmental opportunities, efforts are being made through various Councils and Stakeholders to develop Municipalities in various fields to achieve City status in the near future.
Morogoro Municipality is located 195 km from Dar es Salaam City. It is located between Latitude 4.5 South and Longitude 37.4 East. It is approximately 1,600 feet above sea level. The municipality borders the Uluguru Mountains to the South and the Mindu Mountains to the West. It is bordered on the North by Mvomero District and Morogoro on the East.
